Attending the Microsoft Power Platform Conference was truly one of the most unforgettable
and inspiring moments in my professional journey so far. It was my very first big tech conference
— and stepping into a space full of innovators, developers, and passionate people who share
the same curiosity for technology and automation felt both exciting and empowering. From the
moment I arrived, I knew this experience was going to change how I think, learn, and build.
Throughout the week, I had the opportunity to attend multiple sessions that deepened my
understanding of the Power Platform and its growing impact across industries. One of my
favorite sessions was “Agents vs. Flows: Navigating the Future of Intelligent
Automation,” presented by Joel Lindstrom and Matthew Devaney. They explored how
agents and flows serve different but complementary purposes in automation. I loved how they
broke down when to rely on Copilot-driven agents for dynamic, conversational automation,
versus using structured Power Automate flows for defined, rule-based processes. It really
expanded how I think about intelligent automation and its role in shaping the future of work.
Another session that truly captured my attention was “Building Agents in M365 Copilot with
Copilot Studio.” This session was especially exciting because it showcased how developers
can design agents that guide users through complex tasks, interact naturally, and integrate
seamlessly with Microsoft 365 services. Seeing this in action made me realize how much
potential there is in Copilot Studio — and how AI can make automation more intuitive and
human-centered.
I also attended “Power Automate Revolution: Supercharge Your Workflow,” led by Nathalie
Leenders, which focused on advanced flow building, performance optimization, and integrating
AI Builder and Dataverse. I left that session full of ideas for how we could apply similar concepts
to streamline processes at FPS. Later, “Automating Microsoft 365 with Power Automate
Cloud Flows” by Scott Shearer reinforced the power of simplicity in automation — showing
how even small, well-designed flows can make a huge impact in improving efficiency and
consistency across organizations.
Sessions like “Choosing the Right Power App Type: Model-Driven vs.
Canvas” and “Creating an App? Start with the Plan Designer, Build with Copilot” also
helped me strengthen my development mindset. I gained a better understanding of how to
choose the right type of app depending on user needs, project complexity, and long-term
scalability. Each talk connected technical skills with creativity, showing that great solutions start
with thoughtful design and a clear vision.
Beyond the technical learning, what made this experience truly special was the people. Every
conversation — whether with speakers, other attendees, or professionals I met for the first time
— was full of inspiration and shared passion for continuous learning. I realized that being part of
this community is not just about using technology but also about connecting ideas and
collaborating to create better outcomes for everyone.
I’m deeply grateful for the support I received from Ryan, my manager, who was with me
throughout the conference. His guidance and encouragement helped me make the most of
every session and see how to apply what I learned directly to our work. And I want to give a
heartfelt thank you to Stacy, whose trust and leadership made this opportunity possible. Her
constant support motivates me to keep growing and improving every day.
Coming back from this conference, I feel more inspired than ever. It reignited my drive to keep
learning, to explore new ways of using automation and AI, and to continue developing as a
strong and confident Power Platform developer. I’m already planning to pursue my Power
Platform certification and to apply everything I learned to build smarter, more scalable, and
user-focused solutions.
Most importantly, this experience reminded me of how much I enjoy being part of Focal Point
Solutions. Every insight I gained connects back to what we do — helping clients modernize,
automate, and innovate through technology. The Power Platform Conference gave me new
ideas to bring to our projects, from optimizing workflows to introducing intelligent automation
that enhances collaboration. I’m truly excited to see how these learnings will contribute to our
team’s success and to the continued growth of FPS’s mission: delivering smart, scalable, and
meaningful solutions that empower people and organizations to do more.
