An In-depth Exploration of the SharePoint Limited Access Permission Level

–How to prevent the accidental granting of Limited Access.

–Best practices for sharing content, managing permissions inheritance and limiting Limited Access.

–How to clean up Limited Access.

This topic applies equally to SharePoint 2007, 2010, 2013, 2016 and Online. The demos will use both SharePoint 2016 and SharePoint Online/Office 365.

Bio – Mike is currently a Senior Instructor at MAX Technical Training in Cincinnati Ohio. He has worn many IT hats over the last thirty years as a business owner, developer, tech writer, trainer, DBA and consultant. He is a SharePoint MVP for 2010 – 2017 and a Microsoft Certified Trainer (MCT). He specializes in SharePoint, PowerShell and .NET development. Mike is a member of the Cincinnati SharePoint User Group leadership team and when time permits, speaks at SharePoint user groups, SharePoint Saturday events and other SharePoint events. Mike has written over 160 training and technical manuals, and three SharePoint books.

Title:  If I ran the SharePoint Zoo

Abstract:

Metadata can be a scary word for those who don’t know what it means, much less know its value or how it can be used.  Getting end users out of the habit of using folders and to start using metadata is a hard transition. In this session, we will explore some of the ways to set up, use, sort, and view metadata. Learn ways to make it easy for your end users and they finally can see the value in it over folder set up. Finally, we will test out using metadata in a simple set up side by side with folders to truly test the advantages.

Bio:

Liz was bit by the SharePoint bug in 2007 while working on an ERP project. Since then, she has worked with a variety of SharePoint platforms from[masked] and SharePoint online. Using tools and techniques from a variety of disciplines including project management, change management, business analysis, training and lean six sigma she works to extend out of the box capabilities to meet business needs. Exciting users thru training and evangelism on all the possibilities of business transformation using SharePoint is a passion.
